Mike Florio - Arisen (2006)

Review added July 20/07.

If first impressions count, Mike Florio should impress. The opening impression of Arisen, "Bells for 1827," is one of stately power. Other songs, such as "Paradise of Stone," also have interesting intros, as well.

The songs themselves are intelligently written, complex without being obtuse. Florio's voice, while not overly powerful, is pleasing to the ear.

I have to admit that "light-sounding" keyboard music is not really my cup of tea. But Florio has done a commendable job, and if you ever wondered what would have happened had Michael W. Smith opted to be a prog artist, this may well be the CD for you.

3 stars.
